Success of our Charity Comedy Night
with John Martin
We are thrilled to say that our National Military Working Dogs Memorial Comedy Night held at The Holywell Pet Cemetery Tea Rooms on 9th August was a huge success. The comedy night, hosted by Comedian, John Martin helped to raise hundreds of pounds for the National Military Working Dogs Memorial (NMWDM) charity.
Each table received a complimentary bottle of wine and the sold-out occasion raised £638, bringing the current total raised for the Holywell based charity to around £40,000.
“Everyone was very moved by the model of the memorial that we had on display,” explained Emma Ward, Marketing Manager of The Pet Cemetery and Trustee of NMWDM. “It was nice to showcase it to the people who were there supporting us.”
Our fabulous host and comedian John Martin really made the evening. Not only is he a talented comedian, he is passionate about dogs and the military history especially Operation Anthropoid.
John has even written a book all about Operation Anthropoid 1942.
Operation Anthropoid was the code name for the plan to assassinate Nazi Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich in 1942.
John is considered a world expert on the subject. He has appeared in TV documentaries and was even sought out by producers of the new blockbuster movie Anthropoid to provide expertise, including on the actual film set in Prague.
